Most all of the goods sold in central Tibet are trucked in on
this road. The truck traffic would keep the roads clear of snow.

The Chinese truck drivers would always warn us about the Tibetan
wolves that roamed this desolate frozen land. The Chinese were
very fearful of the wolves but the Tibetans did not think they
were a problem for humans. Amdo, Tibet.

It is a constant bad to keeps the roads in usable shape. Sections
of the route were newly paved and other sections were being rebuilt

Tibetan nomad kids spend their days taking care of the sheep and
relaxing on the roadside. Amdo, Tibet.
These Buddhist stupas contain the remains of a few high Buddhist
Lamas. Amdo, Tibet.
Weather on the Tibetan plateau changes by the minute. This would
mean that we would often be treated to wonderful displays of rainbows.
When we finally reached Lhasa, there was a rainbow over the Potala
