A Canadian by birth, John was educated in the USA and the UK. He was one of the first westerners to cycle through the Indian Himalaya, traveling from Srinagar to Leh to Manali. He now lives in Palo Alto, California with his lovely wife Jeannie. He has attributed his 1998 2000 mile Western Tibet trip to "poor impulse control". Of course the trip was originally his idea. Born in China, Liyang is always happy to make a trip back to the "mother land" even if it means living on instant noodles and putting up with the "boys" (John and Ray). Most often when in Tibet she is mistaken for a government assigned translator, because after all what respectable Chinese woman would be cycling in the middle of Tibet with two white guys. She now resides in Silicon Valley, California where between Himalayan travels she writes computer software. |
